A Silly Remembrance

As I was looking through my photos on my computer I was brought back to some pictures I had taking in NYC of my father. I had knit a cashmere hat to keep me warm on the east coast, no surprise I needed to resort to cashmere to get warm or I may have just wanted an excuse to knit with cashmere. All in all I had prepared for the cold and dressed for warmth. Oh no not my father you know how men are "I run hot" "I'll be fine" "I don't get cold" psh ya right! So there I am walking out of the subway station when whoop I feel my hat slip of my head. I go to reach for it and see my father had placed it on his head. Before I can give him any flack he just says "thanks" and carries on with his day. I knew he was cold so I left it, and it was probably the one of the funniest things I had every seen! There is no way to describe a sixty year old man walking down 5th Avenue in a great looking suit and this baby blue and purple beret pulled over his forehead so it looked like he had dread locks. Khristmas Knits: Part 3

This edition to my Khristmas knits is the best one for some of that scrap fingering yarn you have lying around. It not only is a quick little knit but a great repetitive practice of yarn overs and decreasing. It is a braided cabled chain or ribbon type thing. I do not really know how to describe but what is cool is that you can make it a multitude of things. Both my friend and I made ours into head bands. But the pattern shows it as both a bracelet and a necklace. I think all ways are great and it look really cute. I also thought it may be a good belt or a strap for a felted bag you may have just worked up. No matter how you use it I think its a great little pattern to have in the back of your head.

Khristmas Knits: part 2

I have been messing around with the spiral rib pattern and I love it. It looks so complicated yet it is so simple. It is just doing a normal two by two rib but by adding one extra stitch every round the rib is off set by one. That is why every row the stitch pattern moves over one creating a spiraling effect. Both these projects are so simple and they both take about two days respectably. Another thing that is great is that they are very gender neutral. I made both out of different kinds of chunky cascade yarns, the hat being the cascade 128 and the hand warmers in the cascade chunky baby alpaca. I loved making them and I hope you guys enjoy whipping them out also for a quick last minuet hand knit gift. Plus with the left over yarn you can start another hat from last Friday's Khristmas Knit.

There are not that many moments in the year that you can wear gold nail polish and no one is going to question it. And this time of the year is one of those moments. That being said since we do not wear gold nail polish a lot it quickly goes to the back burner on trying to find a good one, which is very hard. For my whole life I have been looking for solid gold nail polish...see what I did there? Anyway the treasure hunt has come to an end after a great little gift from my mother. Who knows were she found this polish but I love it. After only two coats I have gold fingers and I am ready to be in a James Bond movie.
