Holiday Nails

During the holiday party season one needs a festive nail that is easy to take care of. I sort of came up with this gold tipped nail when I was late for a dinner and needed to fix up the tips of my nails. I had been previously wearing a pretty slate grey/silver shade on my nails with my accent color being my favorite holiday color: emerald green. They looked great but just like any nails after a few days they start to chip of at the tips of the nails. So as I mentioned before, as I was running out the door to a dinner I grabbed my gold nail polish and just dashed it across the tips of my nails to cover it up. I obviously did not try to make it look perfect but went for the more "sprinkle of gold" look. It turned out great and I have just been adding more gold from one party to the next. There are not that many moments in the year that you can wear gold nail polish and no one is going to question it. And this time of the year is one of those moments. That being said since we do not wear gold nail polish a lot it quickly goes to the back burner on trying to find a good one, which is very hard. For my whole life I have been looking for solid gold nail polish...see what I did there? Anyway the treasure hunt has come to an end after a great little gift from my mother. Who knows were she found this polish but I love it. After only two coats I have gold fingers and I am ready to be in a James Bond movie.

Is it Christmas Yet

Let me be honest with you all and admit to my christmas obsession. I love Christmas and what is that I love so much about it you may ask? Well I love it all. I love the colors, the weather, the fashion of winter, the gifts (giving them), all the sweaters I can wear, the long nights, the food of course, family get togethers, old friends, and last but not least the music. And if I was being honest again I have been listening to it all year long periodically. This year I did try to restrain myself and wait until November for me to really get all my Christmas stuff going. So the first thing that I could not wait to get my hands on literally is my Emerald nail polish. I have been in love with Emerald nails sense Christmas 2010 and have made it a tradition of sorts, plus I just love the color in general. I finally invested in an emerald polish sometime last winter and I have not had the chance to use it until now. I do not know why I didn't use it last year either. I picked this up at Francescas in the shade evergreen, and I do love love love the color. That being said I do not know how much I like the actual nail polish. It is very pigmented and goes on very smoothly and only to two coats to get my desired look. The down side is it too forever to dry and ended up botching my nails quite a bit. It did that thing were the nails on top were dry but if I pressed on it it was almost like the nails were still newly painted a few seconds ago. This lasted a good half hour to forty minuets. Sense I had to cook dinner there was no time for me to wait and of course that resulted in some dented up nails but I will redo them soon enough anyway.

Manicure...Wednesday?

Sorry everyone I did not do my nails on Monday but they still looked so good there was no chipping! Of course I woke up Tuesday and it was like my nails knew I had missed my weekly manicure. My nail polish started falling off left and right so I had to do my nails last night when I got home. I decided to mix it up a little this week and use Essie in the shade Bordeaux. I am way more then suprised with how great this nail polsih is. If anyone has ever used Essie I am sure they have had the same experince as me. I sit there for an hour applying coat after coat only for the color in the bottle to never show up on my nails, but at least they end up being about an inch thick! Ridiculous (comment below if this happens to you). But so anyway last night I was thinking...hmm benefit of the doubt I like this red color and I don't mind having a kind of milky sheer red shade. Of course the one time I am ready for Essie to fail me they give me the most pigmented nail polsih ever!!!

A Monday Manicure

Since I am the queen of having chipped nails I had to redo my nails again, you will soon notice this is a trend of mine. Keeping up with the fall color theme I went with a yummy plum shade today. It is again from O.P.I. but I must say that I love love love their nail polishes. The colors are fantastic and they when I paint my nails I actually end up with the same color as the bottle and with only two coats! I again used my Butter London top coat which is seriously the best, but it also helps with my chippy Mc chipper nails. Anyone that has super prone to chipping nails please comment with your solutions so far the best I have is this top coat from Butter.

Fall Nails

I am headed to New York this weekend and I felt the need to put my best foot forward...and hand. I chose to start with my feet because I know that my hands will take so much longer. Now I do not know about you but everytime I try to paint my pinkie toe I find myself bent into so odd shaped pretzel. And even with all this effort I still can not reach my toe and so I end up just slathering the polish all over my pinkie toe and hope the excess will come off in the shower.

Then came my finger nails. I had thi horrible chipped nail polish look going so I need to first be rid of that. My mom had recently been on a trip and picked me up some Butter London things and one thing was so wipes. 

Now I am not fond of wipes in general and after using the Butter London ones my views have not change. They always dry out quick and I never get off all my nail polish. That being said everything else about Butter London I love. For my nails I went super fall inspired with this beautiful shimmery burgundy brown shade.

In the end I loved both O.P.I nail polishes because it only took me two coats to get such great color.
